If you’ve been holding out for a good deal on The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition or simply hadn’t gotten around to purchasing it yet, there’s some good news from Steam and Direct2Drive: You can now get the game at a sexy 50% off. The offer brings the price down to a budget-friendly $4.99 at Steam and $4.95 at D2D. For that price, everyone should run on over and pick it up. It’s our favorite pirate, after all. Arrr!

If the offer appeals to you, don’t hesitate, as the sale will only last until Monday, September 21. Then the spell will wear off and the carriage will turn back into a pumpkin and all you’ll be left with is an unpaired shoe. Or, you know, you’ll have to shell out the full $10. One of the two things will happen.
Links to your prefered downloading/purchasing locale: D2D or Steam.
Enjoy, mateys!

So, there’s no confirmation from Nintendo that the Wii is going down in price. In fact, everything we’d heard until now is that the Wii is not going to go down in price no matter what the other Big Boys are doing with their next gen consoles. But in business, like in life, there are no never-nevers and no absolutes. So, while Nintendo may have believed that their Wii was the perfect price, they may have changed their minds.

Bottomline: Both Walmart and Toys R Us are reporting a $50 price drop for the Wii console, bringing it down to a sexy $199.99. Doesn’t that look kinder on the wallet? Both Sony’s weight-watching PS3 Slim and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Elite are both down to $299. So it would make sense for Nintendo to suck it up and slash some prices just to even out the playing field.
Whether or not the rumor is true will be confirmed soon enough. So keep your eye out, if you’ve been waiting for a cheaper Wii.

It’s a really good time to shop for video games. Particularly if you’ve got both an Xbox 360 and a Best Buy near you. The mega-retail chain has an offer you might not be able to resist: Buy one Xbox 360 game and get the other one at half price. The best part? You don’t have a limited selection of games to choose from. Instead, you’ve got a selection of 232 Xbox 360 titles at your disposal.

The full list of games applicable are listed at Best Buy, so you can go sort through the selection and see if there’s anything that meets your intrigue. Upcoming games, such as Modern Warfare 2 and Brutal Legend are definitely included in this sale, so you can already see this is a really awesome deal. You can even benefit from free shipping with some of the titles.
Happy shopping!

It’s the weekend, so it’s time to lay out the video gaming options. But perhaps you’re already beat everything you own and want to try something new. Or perhaps you want to get a head start on Holiday shopping. Or maybe you’re simply in a shopaholic frame of mind and want to purchase everything under the sun, while, simultaneously not wishing to leave the comfort of your bed/desk/chair.

Amazon’s got you covered, my friends. Their Gold Box deals are all about the video games today. And for some terrific prices you can be the proud owners of some games you probably already have, or didn’t really want in the first place, but probably know someone who would want them. Like, The Sims 3 (PC) for the low, low price of $29.98
And – also – lots of golf games coming up. If you love golf or know someone that loves golf, Amazon loves you today.
So be sure to drop by and check out their current and upcoming deals. You might find something worth buying.

If you’ve been waiting for a really good deal on Gear of Wars 2, the time to break out the credit card is now: Gears of War 2 Game of the Year Edition is not a myth. It can be yours as of September 1. GameStop is happy to take your pre-order should you feel the need to jump on that right away. The price is not particularly astronomical, either: $39.99. A pretty decent deal for all the stuff you get with it.

In addition to the game, you get the All Fronts Collection, which includes nineteen (19) multiplayer maps, and the “deleted scene” campaign mission.
Things that remain unclear is whether all the DLC will be included in the game’s disc, or a separate disc, or if you’ll get a handy code to use. All in all, though, this is a pretty sweet deal for a pretty sweet game.
Look for the Gears of War 2 Game of the Year Edition next Tuesday, Sept. 1.

If you’re planning to get an Xbox 360 sometime soon, perhaps you should consider picking one up next week. According to some leaked ads from Target, the consoles – both the Pro and Elite models – will be seeing a sexy pricecut in the very near future. Though the pricecut news is in no way official, the evidence is strong that this particular rumor is more than just that.

Engadget received an advanced copy of next week’s Target Ads, and these reveal that the Xbox 360 Pro and Elite will undergo a long-rumored pricing change.
If these rumors are correct, you can expect the following:
The Xbox 360 60GB Pro will be going down to $250, while the 120GB Elite will now cost you $300. These numbers, while still a lot to the general public, are probably going to make a lot of people happy.
Expect the new prices to take effect on Sunday, August 30th. Again, if this is true.

Our favorite pirate, Guybrush Threepwood, has done it again. He’s boldly led TellTale Inc. toward riches and real-world treasure. Tales of Monkey Island which brings us back into Monkey Island storyline nine years after we last left it, has risen to the #1 spot in the WiiWare service, and also to the #1 spot in Steam’s online channel during launch week.

But the fun isn’t over yet, thankfully, as Chapter 2 “Siege of Spinner Cay” is on the horizon and almost ready to welcome us into its piratey fold. The series continuation will launch on August 20 for the PC and a domino effect of availability will soon follow. The series will total five chapters and you can purchase them all at www.telltalegames.com for $34.95. You can also grab them at the WiiShop Channel.
Have fun, pirate lovers!
